From offer to move-in – getting it right
Setting up a tenancy correctly from the start protects your tenants, your organisation, and the integrity of your MMR provision. There are specific legal requirements that apply to how a private tenancy is created and what must happen before and at the point of entry.
This module takes you through the full process of establishing a tenancy - what the law requires, what the Letting Agent Code of Practice expects, and how to make sure everything is properly in place before your tenant moves in.
Why attend?
Because errors made at the start of a tenancy can be difficult, and costly to resolve later. This module gives you the tools to get it right first time. Over two sessions, you will:
- Understand the legal requirements for creating a private residential tenancy in Scotland.
- Know what information, documentation, and notices must be provided to tenants at the outset.
- Learn how pre-tenancy obligations under the Letting Agent Code of Practice apply to your role.
- Develop a clear, consistent process for setting up tenancies that meets compliance requirements.
Who is this webinar for: This module is ideal for staff who are responsible for signing up tenants, preparing tenancy agreements, or managing the pre-tenancy process in an MMR setting.

Learning Format
A virtual classroom is a learning environment where participants can interact, communicate, view and discuss material, while working in groups, via an online platform. LAS use Zoom.
For MMR training modules delivered virtually, the webinar facilitator will confirm a delegate is present and therefore delegates need to be visible via camera or have made LAS aware in advance of why this is not possible.
