Tax for Private Landlords - Restructure & Remodel

This session, delivered in partnership with Price Bailey Chartered Accountants, is part of the Tax for Private Landlords series — four one-hour online sessions.

Each session is designed to stand alone, so you will leave with a complete, actionable understanding of the topic whether you attend one session or all four. Taken together, the series follows a deliberate journey: understand your liability - reduce it - restructure around it - protect what you have built.

The other sessions in the series are:

  • Session 1: Know your liability — income tax and Section 24 explained
  • Session 2: Reduce what you owe — expenses, allowances, and reliefs
  • Session 4: Protect and exit — CGT, IHT, and long-term wealth strategies

This is the third session in the series. For landlords who have taken stock of their tax liability and explored available reliefs, the question often becomes: is the way I currently hold my property still the right structure? This session examines the strategic options, from incorporation to Limited Liability Partnerships and sets out the practical considerations for landlords thinking about restructuring, including what Making Tax Digital will mean for them.

Topics include:

  • Individual vs. company ownership — the pros and cons of incorporation in light of Section 24
  • Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) — how they work and the flexibility they can offer.
  • Making Tax Digital — what is coming and how landlords can prepare.

This session builds on the foundations laid in Sessions 1 and 2, and leads into Session 4, which focuses on protecting and transferring wealth over the longer term.

Who is this webinar for: Private landlords in Scotland, particularly those with larger portfolios or those considering changes to how they hold property. Letting agents supporting landlord clients may also find this session valuable.

Why choose a webinar?

LAS deliver webinars to ensure that no matter where you are in the country you can access the information you need.  We provide you with the same essential information you would receive if we were presenting the training face to face.  You won’t be on camera, but you can ask as many questions as you wish during the session and we will answer as many as we can.

Our Partners and Sponsorship

In addition to working with Local Authorities, we seek sponsorship from relevant companies. By attracting sponsorship we can continue to develop training and information sessions to provide essential updates and support for landlords and letting agents operating in Scotland. This webinar is delivered by Price Bailey Chartered Accountants.
