Following on from the first course in our ‘Toolkit for Landlords’, this course goes on to help us manage conflict that we couldn't prevent and examine how skills and techniques used in mediation can be of real help.
To cover the topic in full, the course will be delivered through two sessions.
Session 1: Moving past stalemates: What tenants say vs. what they need
- Learn how to use questioning skills to get away from entrenched positions and identify underlying interests and needs.
Session 2: Win–Win solutions: Practical problem solving with tenants
- Understand how a variety of problem-solving techniques including reframing can help you reach workable solutions.
Having completed both courses, you will be able to:
- recognise situations where conflict could arise
- use mediation tools to de-escalate and resolve conflict
- understand how to access mediation should you need to.
Whilst each course can stand alone, the second course builds on concepts introduced in the first course so we strongly recommend you attend both.
You may not be experiencing this situation at present, but attending will ensure you have the skills needed should it arise in the future.
